Nice collection, Coach! They look really well perserved! You have more pairs of gloves than I have of shoes! I don't know if I ever told you while we were at Elon but before playing sweeper for my club, ODP and high school teams, I started my soccer "career" as a goalkeeper and didn't come out onto the field until high school. Looking back, I think I actually played more years as a goalkeeper than a sweeper. But I have to say, sweeper is still my favorite position to this day.Great blog by the way!:)
Meant to say preserved...fat fingers!
Thanks Christina! No, you never told me you used to play in goal!
Started my GK career in 1977-used gloves with the "ping pong' paddle rubber that was sewn on to leather glove. lasted about 1 game and then all the raised rubber was worn off. Still remember getting my 1st pair of Foam GK gloves from an add in Soccer Digest in 1982 playing in the Air Force. Wish I would have kept all my gloves.... Great post!Tony FeigumGlenwood FC
Tony, I think I got my gloves from the same ad...I can't remember the name of the place, think it was out west somewhere. Thanks for the comment!
