Seriously?

Football writers clueless about goalkeeping - which is pretty much all of them - are already penning articles about Pepe Reina's "loss of form." This is based entirely on his admittedly calamitous error against Arsenal in Liverpool's first game of the season, and an entirely unlucky slip against Argentina for Spain. Regular readers will know I'm a River Plate fan, and I can confirm that while the pitch at the Monumental looks decent, players are always slipping and falling. The roots never seem to take, because they're always having to re-sod the pitch after concerts. You can judge for yourself from the video, but a slip is a slip, not an error.

Meanwhile, of course, all the rumors of goalkeeper movement in England amounted to nothing. Shay Given and Mark Schwarzer both stay put, both apparently unhappy. It looks like David Stockdale will keep his place, for now at least, in Fulham's goal, while Joe Hart only goes from strength to strength with every appearance. While I did predict that nobody would go aywhere, I do think one or both of Schwarzer and Given will make a move in January.

Okay, so, i feel like this is the best site i have found in terms of chronicling international goalkeeping. I love it so far.

As a high school sophomore starting goalkeeper,(yes, i would like to think i'm pretty good..), I'm fairly interested in this stuff.

p.s. my fav keeper is Julio Cesar.

Thanks very much, Ian! I was once a high school sophomore goalkeeper myself - and I also love Julio Cesar. You picked a great role model to learn from.
