Carrizo Goes Out In Style
Written By Justin on Monday, June 9, 2008 | 1:09:00 AM
Juan Pablo Carrizo has (probably) played his last game for River Plate - and what a game it was. River ended a 4-year trophy drought (that felt much longer) by winning the Clausura title. River beat Olimpo 2-1 at home, while Estudiantes bottled it for the second week in a row, drawing 0-0 at home with Huracan. River have one game left to play, but with the title clinched, I expect to see heir apparent Juan Marcelo Ojeda in goal. Carrizo, the best goalkeeper in South America, is off to Lazio later this summer.
Meanwhile, the Euros have started - rather tamely. No goalkeeper heroics or disasters to report after the first weekend, but stay tuned, because we know they're coming.
