Goalkeepers took center stage in two FA Cup ties this weekend. Luke Steele, an 11th-hour emergency loan signing, made several brilliant saves and helped Barnsley "shock" Liverpool at Anfield (I, frankly, was not shocked. Liverpool have a squad full of underperforming, mistake-prone players. Witness Xabi Alonso's lazy defending for Barnsley's winner). Meanwhile, David James continues to prove that at 37, he remains the best English keeper in the game. He produced a commanding display at Deepdale, keeping Preston at bay as Pompey progressed thanks to an unfortunate injury-time own goal.
