Goalkeeper Movement?

Brad Guzan is on trial at Celtic, which has led to speculation that Artur Boruc, long admired by AC Milan, could be on his way to the Italian giants. It's more complicated than that, though. Boruc just signed an extension two weeks ago, and Guzan does not meet the strict work permit standards in Scotland. A tribunal could rule in his favor if Celtic do end up wanting to sign him, but there's no guarantee. But it does seem likely that Brad will end up somewhere in Europe sooner rather than later, leaving Chivas USA with a significant hole to fill. Brad has all the tools to succeed in Europe, and you can tell he has a future with the national team because it looks like he'll start going bald soon. Baldness, of course, has been a requirement for all US keepers in the post-Tony Meola era.

Chicago Fire keeper Matt Pickens is on trial with Norwich City, and is currently unsigned with any MLS team. Based on remarks to the press by Norwich manager Glenn Roeder, who believes Matt is a Championship-standard keeper, there could be an opening in Chicago for veteran Jon Busch, who played well in limited opportunities last season.

Meanwhile in New York, the departure of Ronald Wattereus means Jon Conway will be given a shot to establish himself as the Red Bull's number one. Zach Thornton, somewhat surprisingly, has been brought in as number two. Zach player just one game last year, against the LA Galaxy, where he conceded a goal to Kyle Martino. In my unofficial estimation, that moment was MLS's heaviest player being beaten by it's lightest.
